Solar PiezoClean was founded by Maher Maymoun during his master’s research in Energy Engineering at the University of Illinois at Chicago. It was there that he developed an innovative self-cleaning technology for solar panels that doesn’t use water. Inspired by the potential of his research to make a positive impact on both the energy and water sectors, Maher decided to turn it into a business focused on green innovation.
Maher's contributions to the field have been recognized internationally, earning him several prestigious awards from the Association of Energy Engineers in the USA. These include the Energy Innovator of the Year in 2017 and the Young Energy Professional of the Year in 2018. Additionally, in 2019, he was honored as one of the top 10 young persons in the world by JCI International.
The idea behind Solar PiezoClean was registered as a U.S. provisional patent, leading to the formation of a distinguished team. Tala Nassraween, a Computer Science graduate from PSUT, joined as a co-founder to spearhead business development and marketing efforts globally. Tala holds a master’s degree in Consultancy and Entrepreneurship from the Netherlands and has received accolades such as being named one of the top 10 women entrepreneurs in Jordan by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah. She was also recognized as one of the top 10 technology innovation pioneers in the UAE in 2020.
To support its growth, Solar PiezoClean has engaged a legal consultant and formed an advisory board in both the USA and Jordan. This team provides guidance on upcoming steps as the company transitions from research to commercial product. Seeking SEED funding to facilitate this transition, Solar PiezoClean has participated in various regional and global competitions, achieving significant recognition along the way. Notable awards include the Queen Rania Entrepreneurship Award (First Prize), the Open Hands Initiative Award (2nd Prize), and the Emirates Energy Award (Silver Prize) in 2015. In June 2016, Solar PiezoClean excelled at the Global Entrepreneurship Summit in Silicon Valley, winning three out of twelve prizes among over 1,075 competing projects worldwide.
Since its registration as a limited liability company in December 2015 in Jordan, Solar PiezoClean has amassed over five years of experience in the cleaning, monitoring, and maintenance of photovoltaic (PV) panels. The company prides itself on using advanced technologies that are safe and efficient, with operations overseen by our team of PV cleaning and maintenance experts.
